Zen saying of the Day

An unhappy person and a happy one will have different perceptions of the same circumstances. The difference lies not in the circumstances but in the two states of life.

A very true quote SC...it reminds me of one I've heard and seen many times before.

"Reality doesn't bite, rather our perception of reality bites."

It's all about perspective. I learned that lesson very well in the last 5 years or so.

A recent airport delay made me think about it even more. I was stuck in Detroit for 5 hours. So I thought about the choices one has in such a situation. I figured, when one can, it is better to enjoy it and have an adventure. Create new fun stories to tell. For one's experience at the airport, for example, lasts well beyond. Each time one relates their experiences to others, family and friends, all the emotions come back. Why get stressed out and angry over and over again with each telling. Better to be happy and bring a smile to your face and the others around you.

So I went into the Irish pub, had a beer and a corned beef sandwich after finding out I had missed my connecting flight. The next flight was eventually cancelled and I was delayed even longer. So I read a little, listened to the iPod, watch a DVD on the laptop, had a nap under the fleece blanket I had with me and just relaxed. In no time I was on my way.

It's not always easy to get into the right perspective. But certainly a goal to be strived for.
Cheers,
SR

Love the choice you made. And the fact you realized you HAD a choice; you could get upset and complain, or you could relax and make the best of it. We always have choices in perception, we just don't always realize it.
I hope you will choose to visit my blog frequently.
