What are we reading?

Maybe, just maybe I will start this one again, but don't hold your breath!!

This is my post about BOOKS... It will stay here and what ever I read will be added. The image is of the current book I'm reading.

It's an opportunity for us heavy duty reading nerds to share books, reviews etc. all about the wonderful world of literature!

Let me know what you are reading at any given time that you stop by, and let my know if you recommend it or not.

Don't be bashful, anything from comic books to the classics interests me!

I'M POSTING INSIDE WHAT I THOUGHT OF THE BOOK I FINISHED AND ABOUT THE NEW BOOK I'M STARTING.... SOMETIMES.

MY RATING SYSTEM:

...\8 = Awesome
\8 = Not bad at all
=8 = Read Worthy
/8 = Nah... But I give the next book a chance, maybe
~^~ = Piece of crap, don't even bother

I really wanted this book to be good, cause the story seemed great, but the writing..... To much technical mumbojumbo and not much happens at all. The Worst part though was that the writer couldn't decide if he was going to use first or last names for his characters, (personally I think that sticking with last names for the military, and maybe first names for the civilians could be the ticket) On one page someone was Jack and on another he was Collins etc etc. There was a lot of characters and different covert groups. By page 208 I was still confused as to who was who, so I simply couldn't take it any more!

I haven't gotten to read a book in the past couple of weeks but the last I finished was Stephen King's, The Dome. It was soo long but good. It made me think about why we are here. Our power on this planet or the lack of power

I need to find a happy book to read next.
Haven't read that one... I might one day, but I have a humongo stack of books to get through first.

Nope. You weren't. Entirely too angsty and whingy for me. But, what brought me over (aside from the Hijack posts) was the Christopher Moore notation. I just finished Lamb and Practical Demonkeeping is awaiting a read....
I'm going to now, have to read all however many pages of the comments to find more goodies to read...
Lamb is my fave Moore book! Practical Demonkeeping was not bad, but not his best!

LOL... Gabriel Garcia Marquez... I'm probably the only person in the world who hated "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and couldn't finish it... I usually try the authors that my countrymen give the Nobel Price to, but I didn't get that one!

If I have to pick an author who's original writings are in Spanish, I will hands down pick Arturo Perez-Reverte...

Lemme see:

Black Jewels - Red 'em Twice... (I have read the continuations too, but they are not as good)

Dark Tower - Red 'em Once...

Terry Brooks - I bought the five books of the Landover series, couldn't even get trough the third one, so I think I skip Shanara... My ex loves 'em though! (Have you read Jim Butcher's Codex Alera?)

Harry Potter - I tried to read the first one but couldn't get into it... It was probably a mood thing (my mood), so I will try again...

Robin Cook - I think I read one of his books a long time ago...

Stephen King - But of course, he's the King! (I like Koontz too)

Peter Straub - Have read a few of his here and there...

Poetry - Not really my thing, but now and then I find something special, like Dylan Thomas for instance...

The Left Behind series - Sorry, but I started the first one and didn't even finish it... It went in the trash! However, if you are Christian it's probably a good read, but since I'm not, well...

Keep the suggestions coming!

Just finished Sniper One by Dan Mills the other day....pretty frightening account of a British battallion in Iraq. Hard to put down once I started!

Also just re-read all C.S. Lewis' Narnia books. Haven't read them since I was a kid and I'm still mad about the ending of the final story (The Last Battle): it was a mix of an upper and a downer, but didn't leave me level. lol
I've been thinking about re-reading Narnia... I can barely remember them... I read 'em around age 10... Hmmmmm, that makes it like 35 years ago!

War stuff is not really my thing, but I'm sure it was good... I mean since you said so and if you are into those kinda books...

You Suck[\b] by Cristopher Moore: The ending kept this one from getting the top rating...
Deep Storm by Lincoln N Child: A very "cookie cutter" thriller, but still it's something to read if one has nothing better lined up. At least the "love interest" wasn't to obvious...
Succubus Heat by Richelle Mead: This series gets only better and better!
Heart of Stone by C.E. Murphy: I'm reading this one right now...

I have NOT become a fan of Terry Brooks! I bought all five Landover books. I figure I read those before I tackle the Shanara Series and a lot of people swear by him (including my ex)... Well, the first book was readable, somewhat. The second wasn't really, but I figure I give the third one a go..... I couldn't finish it! There was so many DUH factors that one can't even count 'em! Make up a story by having the Hero do stupid, duh things and then hope that the readers are equally stupid... Urgh! needless to say, I won't move on to the Shanara series!!!

That's all I have to say for now folks...
