Beach Etiquette
Beach Etiquette FIgured I'd pick up where I left off from the last post by adding another one, or two, depending how fast I can finish adding this blog before I run off for my lunchtime interview. And before I begin on this post, yes, I got an interview today I'm not super excited about it, nor am I dreading it. I figured I'd just go. Considering also that I am dehydrated, sleep deprived and just coming out of a hungover, melancholy isn't the worst I could be feeling right now. Which brings me to the weekend. Attended a bachelorette party on Saturday which lasted pretty much the whole darn day, and through the night. But that's not what I'll be blabbering about now, I'll probably add the details of that in the later post. Anyhow, it started with us meeting at one of the girl's place in the late morning for a poolside get together before the party at night. We got together, lounged by the pool, tanned a little, sipped some cocktails and talked about a good few things. Naturaslly THe theme was white so everyone had to wear white. The only white swimsuit I have is a rather small bikini I normally only reserve for overseas trips cos the top isn't padded and the material is rather thin, and the bottom is a g-string that, well, doesn't cover a lot. I don't wear it here cos I can do without the attention (not that I'm saying I cause a lot of attention. I'm not THAT conceited ) Thankfully I wasn't the only one that showed up showing a little (ok, more than a little) more skin than what is usually expected in a condo pool cos 2 other girls in the group turned up in thongs too, but, as bad timing would have it, this being the school holidays, a good few parents still gave us some rather disapproving looks - with almost everyone else at the pool being families with cos school here is out and its the holidays. While ignoring everyone else, we got to talking about this one trip we took to Bali a few years ago and we were sunbathing nude and we spotted some guys taking photos from a distance away. That time, we ignored them and moved to another spot after awhile which was the end of that, and in retrospect, we would probably do the same. Which got us discussing beach etiquette. I mean, there pretty much is nothing that can be done in this situation, especially with the zoom lenses that are available, but isn't there some rule that if sunbathing, whether partially nude of fully nude is allowed, or accepted at any particular beach, there shouldn't be cameras around? Cos I mean, aside from being intrusive, its downright creepy. |

Alas--that rule has bit the dust. With cameras on phones, with cameras the size of a pack of cigarettes or smaller, then if you can get away with snapping pictures of the lovelies naked---then you can get away with taking pictures of the naked lovelies. Here at Baker Beach which is in close visual proximity of the highly photographic Golden Gate Bridge, cameras are common. Sometimes, a person will take physical umbrage at having their picture taken, most won't even notice that it was taken. At most nudist camps, cameras are not allowed or their use is limited. Their feeling is that the memory is the best camera. Thanks, Steven
