Are You Kidding Me? I went to visit my bestest best friend in prison today. It had been a while since I last saw him because the great state of Michigan decided to move him twice in the span of 3 weeks. The first move put him damn near to Toledo Ohio.  Well, anyway, I went on a visit today and enjoyed our time as I typically do. This prison was particularly S~L~O~W moving and when I finally got out I had to lug two very heavy footlockers of personal items he had to send home as that facility doesn't allow them (typewriter etc.....)to Eggbert and load them up. I am weak! I swear to you it is only by sheer will I got those damn things loaded in the car. Now I am finally on the road and headed back home again. Time to crank up the stereo and jam out.  After two speeding tickets I have removed the lead from my foot so I was only mildly concerned when I passed a State Trooper parked in the median. (why is it cops scare me?) He pulled out behind me. I am now slightly more concerned.  He just drives back there for a second so I started to relax.  Suddenly he speeds up and comes flying up on my ass but no lights, so I assume perhaps he got a call so I pulled into the slow lane. He pulls into the slow lane right behind me and turns on his lights. So, I pull over and he approaches the car asking for the usual: driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance. I hand them to him. He goes to his car.  When he comes back he hands me the registration and insurance but hangs on to my drivers license.  He then asks me if Holland is my correct home address. I answer "yes". cop "Where are you going?" me "Holland". cop "Where are you coming from"? me "Jackson". cop Whats in the trunk"? At this point let me assure you that the Michigan State Police do NOT have a sense of humor. me "Not a dead body officer" (insert nervous giggle at my attempt at humor) I was shot a look that almost physically hurt. me"I don't know, papers, a typewriter etc......." cop"Where did you come from with this"? I finally spilled the beans about visiting my bestest best friend in prison and that he had to send these items home as they were not allowed in that prison. The cop looks at the trunk which was covered with pictures of nearly naked and topless women and motorcycles and says "I can see why". "What is his name and number?" The long and short of it was that I was pulled over for driving in the left hand lane. Apparently Michigan has enacted a law requiring people on a divided highway where both lanes go the same direction to drive in the right hand lane if available and pass in the left hand lane. He asked me if I had seen the signs that said "drive right/pass left" I said no, but I did see "slower traffic keep right". What the fuck? Are you kidding me? I swear, only me! My question to y'all is this; when the<b> police officer </font></b>pulled me over for a routine traffic stop, was I obligated yo answer his question pertaining to the trunk in my backseat etc....?  Pull My Fucking Hair!  |

Straight up...you were foked. He was bored knew he had you pinned by the lane law tried to freak you out with rush up tag check,and seemly sly questions about the contents of your vehicle. They got the pistol and are willingly able to pop caps first so unless you're a real desporado gunslinger just let them power trip then and then complain later.....Just like the recent crap one pulled on that NFL player rushing to his dying mother in law. Or the statie that was busted in the sunshine state for strongarming folks he thought were illegals...shit the list could go on. Most are border line powertrippers  Nuf said

Its always best to cooperate. If he wants to see what is in the trunk he will. One way or the other so cooperation was best. I had a dream my life would be So different from this hell I'm living So different now from what it seemed Now life has killed the dream I dreamed  RAInBow

Singapore cops are like that. about 10 years ago I once drove to Singapore on Malaysian national day. And so I had a Malaysian flag fixed to me roof as was the custom in Malaysia to celebrate the occassion. But as I drove through the Singapore checkpoint a policeman told me to remove the flag. So I said "Ok I make a deal with you, I take down the flag if you tell me where you blokes have hidden the speed trap". Not even a murmer. I simply removed the flag and drove on. Sorry, Purp for these comments. As you are a Dear friend here BUT!! Fuck'n Eh!! Finally. Now, if OHIO and GEORGIA would get off their asses and get the same law. I can spot a Michigan, Ohio, and Georgia car five miles away -going the same direction I am on a lonely interstate or even a crowded interstate -- they are in the fucking left lane - passing nothing - just cruising along. And, the damn campers are the worst thing, along with other old timers from the other states. What the fuck does an ancient fart know about pulling a camper fast enough to do anything in the left frick'n lane. Sorry, a pet peeve of mine! A sore spot! It's always best to NEVER EVER fool with either Mother Nature or Cops. Period. Be respectful, answer the questions asked, do NOT provide information that is NOT asked for and always remain calm, cool and collected. Unless your really hiding something, you'll be alright.  -tm

He really didn't have probable cause since he pulled you over for a moving violation. You must of looked real guilty. Glad you didn't have a Bobby Buttlicker moment!!

to answer your question the answer is no, but to make life easier you oblige the assholes because they can make your life miserable. I'm glad your friend has you, I know its rough being locked down, both my crimeys are locked down and I feel bad for them but they did n't want to change or shift gears into a better direction so thats what they get. I still love them nonetheless but I know I couldn't keep following that path myself. The hardest thing to do is change purp but I'm harder and made the change, Keep your bestest best friend close to ya. yer a stand up gal, funny and sexy too  roaming the cyber streets of blogland

The supreme court is confusing the issue even if you had something illegal in the trunk and pled the 5th he has to have probable cause to search he would have held you and got a dope dog or impounded your car for mechanical violations best to just let him search. HUGGGGGGGGS DREAM WEAVER 562

Cops are control freaks with no sense of humor. I suspect more than a few are a hairs breadth away from being criminals themselves. My sister is a retired cop. You may want to call him Barney but it is best to just answer the questions with one word answers with a "Sir" tacked on, as in "Yes Sir" and "No Sir". Volunteer nothing. Even simple questions may be attempts to get you to self incriminate. When an officer stopped me for being late on tabs I said I hadn't been notified. He asked if I had moved. What seemed like a helpful question was in fact an attempt to get me to reveal if I hadn't updated my drivers license, another item to put on the ticket. I hadn't moved luckily and only later did I figure this out.    The perversity of the universe is unbounded.

When I get pulled over, I pretend the cop is standing there naked twirling his gun on his pecker. And while I he is sittin in the car checkin out my info, I imagine him whackin himself off.
